Field Trips and Experiential Learning

At MEF IS learning Extends beyond the walls of the classroom. Field Trips and Excursions are part of the learning process PreK-Grade 12 as we believe hands-on experiences deepen student’s understanding of concepts and allow students to make meaning of content.

In grades 6-8, there has been a tradition of students taking a one-week trip each year.

Grade 6 often travels to Cappadocia to explore the natural miracle of the “fairy chimneys” as well as the underground city "Kaymakli" and the old cave carved churches.

Grades 7 and 8 often go to the Black Sea region of Turkey visiting areas including Trabzon, Rize and the Ayder Plateau.

In grades 9-12 there are also opportunities to travel.

Both Model European Parliament and Model United Nations take trips to other countries to participate in sponsored events.

Students from grades 9-12 can be nominated by their teachers to attend a Leadership Academy. In the past, they have gone to Maldives, and Sri Lanka among other countries.
