Community Service

At MEF IS learning is authentic, creative and collaborative. MEF IS has an established and sustained record of service learning projects. Students learn ways to positively contribute to the lives of others while being world changers themselves. Some of these opportunities include the MEF IS Forest, a tree planting initiative, volunteering at the Bomonti retirement home, and bettering the lives of others through charity and fundraising drives .

Dedicated community service is also a graduation requirement for every high school student. The successful completion of these community service hours ensures that during their time as members of our secondary school, every student will have participated in some form of service activity.

The Secondary Community Service Committee works with administration, staff, students, and parents to strengthen and edify the entire MEF IS community. They aim to create an inclusive community that embodies the international mindset of the IB and IGCSE philosophies.Toward this end, their role as the Community Service Committee, is to develop and initiate local and global community service projects that bring together all members of the community to work toward goals that bring out the very best in each of us. They also work with the students to create MEF IS intra-community projects to help create an overall feeling of inclusiveness and identity amongst the student body.

The Secondary Green Council

Green Council is led by secondary students and aims to promote school-wide eco-friendly habits and practices at MEF IS.

Green Council carries out initiatives, with the support of the PTA and Community Service club, to encourage the MEF IS community to be more mindful of their waste. Awareness campaigns run throughout the year to inform and encourage students to reduce their waste, reuse old items and recycle.

Another important part of Green Council is developing the MEF IS garden. Turning the soil and planting began this fall and students look forward to showcasing their green efforts at the Garden BBQ during Earth Week.
